Titanium!

Yeah long time no post I hear ya! Well I've got a few things lined up to post but I've only got pics of this so....well there you go lol. A buddy of mine decided to to go full race car on his FD so he went a different direction for his shifter. Lucky for me he likes high quality stuff! He off loaded this to me.

Brake Duty

Well much time has past since I purchased the 7 and many things have been slow going due to many things. But as of late I've been working on this thing 4-5 days a week just to make some progress! Its been like 90-98 degrees in my garage but that didn't stop me as much as I hate roasting my buns off!

So I'll direct our focus on the stock brake rotors which I thought for sure were goners lol rusty as heck and haven't been used for over 10 years but hey my guys over at JER fixed me up. I figured I'd rock these temporarily during the construction period (until its running) so I may then focus some real attention on the brakes and how they function and what improvements if any need to be made.

So this is where I was I guess many of you who have messed with older rotors know the condition of these at first site...not me. But I gave'em to my bro's at JER and this is what the gave me in return.
Not bad right? The width was still within spec and for temp use I can live with'em. So me being me I like cool looking things...in this case less crappy looking. So I masked these off and painted them down.

And so here we are, resurfaced and freshly painted....bling!

So I thought I was done, until a buddy of mine made a simple suggestion which turned out to be more laborious than I had figured it would be upon re-instillation...whatever at least it looks cool right?

All done for now. Time to focus on my 5spd swap and my engine rebuild.

Moving Forward

Still chugging along between projects and the FD. Starting to get to that point where I just want to work on this thing and nothing else. Can't let that happen lol, the key to staying fresh on a long term build like this is to not consume yourself with it. Hard to do when there's so much to be done, but its all in good fun.

My good friend over at JER loves to entertain me with all of his awesome successes that are his hoard of classic Japanese muscle cars. Hit the link to see what I'm talking about. So I on occasion visit him for no reason at all, It turns out my latest visit was much needed in the further progress of my FD. My buddy has an FD of his own which is how we became friends in the first place, In front of what use to be Super AutoBacs in Stanton CA now an empty building of memories. Anyway we talked for a while and it turns out he had a project motor that came out of a chopped FD from Japan that he was not going to use. So......I bought it and sat in my garage for when the day comes for me to get to work on it.
So after walking around his shop I found a set of wheels I had been drooling over for a while so yeah still trying to work this one out lol. In the mean time.....test fit!

Phewwww I've been busy....

But not on the 7 haha. I have done a few many things in the way of the 7 but none of which will get it on the road any sooner other than having the 5th gear syncro updated in the trans before install which has yet to happen....These things take time and lots of money...both of which are limited in my case lol.

A buddy of mine was so generous to have given me for Christmas a set of Hella horns! Pardon the bad cell phone pic but times are "hard" lol just kidding.

As you can see in the pic the Koyo sits in nicely, I hope I won't have to adjust much one the 13B gets in there.
I finally picked up a matching front bumper and r1 lip that need refurbishing but looks decent.

I mentioned these little beauties early on.
Also got a good deal on this aftermarket bumper lights off of a buddy on the 7Tuned forums.

That empty bay needs filling but I've realized I've got to take care of a few things before I can even get that far.

The Parts Collector

Well I've had this car for a little over two months now and find that searching for parts can be pretty fun. I love waiting for UPS and USPS to drop off cool stuff that I can stuff into my little project car.

In the midst of my bringing this little gem back from the bermuda triangle I planned to swap out the auto goodness for some non auto goodness. Finally picked up a 5 spd that I immediately dropped
off at Lucky 7 Racing in Duarte California. I have a ton to do but the swap has taken priority.

Also picked up a lightweight Koyo racing radiator and stock fans as well as the stock intercooler and ducting. An Exedy clutch and lightened flywheel was also picked up along with the 99 spec front lip that I'll post later and the 99 spec taillights. I'm real happy about those although I should've bought the complete set for reasons that I'll get into later on.
