Continuing the Long Haul

While GL spent time building the motor I was still acquiring parts both atheistic and functional.

Pan Speed fender flares, I may just opt for fiber fenders and be done with it.
But they were being sold for a good price so I picked them up.

When I bought the car is was missing lugs here and there and most were mismatched so yeah...

And a very inexpensive GReddy intercooler knock off kit. Clean cheap and functional.
Works for me!

The R1 wing was also sold to me for a price I couldn't refuse. My FD is wingless and I kind of like it that way however over time I feel it will need some kind of down force at the tail and I really don't like big ass wings so yeah stock is a better fit for me I think. With that said I really don't feel the R1 is going to do the job so I'm now in the market for an R2 wing of the later model jdm FD's.

While at GL they installed my Apex-i N1 racing exhaust which was shipped here from Japan so its the real deal. Honestly I'm a little nervous this may be too much for me lol.

It's huge.

So the for the most part this is what GL gave me.

I like it!

a lot!

I even took my buddies Feed hood and put in on my car hahahaha!

At this point I need some body work and paint....

Oh wait not too far little Timmy don't forget you still need to finish that manual swap!

Damn it! I have to tow it back home!

Turns out getting this all to work properly means that I need to either switch my engine harness to automatic or literally rip out the dash and front end crap, remove all the front harnesses and convert to manual ones. Well shit that's an easy choice.

Idiot.

So this is where I'm at I've got the dash harness on hand still looking for the front harness.

In the words of Dori "just keep swimming"

see you next time kids!

So Where to Start

For me this has been a long haul, I knew it would be a lot of work and money but to experience it first hand is a little different than expecting it. In either case many things have been done and still more to do.

After I bought all those parts many months ago I sent my engine over to Garage Life which is a Rotary specific performance shop here in SoCal. It houses some very talented individuals who understand power goals and simplistic setups like what I'm trying to attain.

I spent many months locating lost and missing parts mostly stock even though I never planned to keep it stock its always good practice to have stock parts laying around in case you get your hands slapped by your local law enforcement. So I literally got all the stock intakes and emission stuff just to have on the shelves.

Got the smaller battery to save some space in the bay even though this battery may end up in the tray like everyone does.

On the other side of town my block was coming together nicely and was built rather quickly with a medium port because race car lol.

Lighten flywheel and 99spec turbos were added to this build as well. Still a very simple build for a shop that regularly pumps out 500whp cars.

So knowing I was missing a bunch of random bits I had to ask GL to install the motor they built for me as well as the stuff I didn't know was missing. So they did...

More to come soon!

Behind on Posting

Been behind on this for many reasons, one I'm lazy at social media related things and two....is pretty much like one.

Anyway after many months of work and financially draining aspects of putting my FD back together I am very to announce.....I'm not done. :- |

I have tons of progress pics that I will post up eventually but I'll just start with this and hope it'll do.

Sitting at Garage Life awaiting things!

Well Shit 2014 has Come and Gone

And all I got was this stupid.....nevermind.

Though there haven't been many updates on this blog there have been many updates on the seven...thank god!

Buying a rolling chassis has mad me some what of a serious parts collector, having to replace things that really shouldn't be missing in the first place but hey its all good. I think instead of explaining everything up to this point I will say this. The motor is in the shop and I'm finishing my 5spd swap and my bank account hates me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

On a side note I actually broke the original Cwest lenses immediately after fixing a slight crack on the face of both. So I started to make my own....Then found some for sale not to far from my house.
Isn't that LAME or what?!?!

Moving on.

 More to come stay tuned!

Titanium!

Yeah long time no post I hear ya! Well I've got a few things lined up to post but I've only got pics of this so....well there you go lol. A buddy of mine decided to to go full race car on his FD so he went a different direction for his shifter. Lucky for me he likes high quality stuff! He off loaded this to me.

Brake Duty

Well much time has past since I purchased the 7 and many things have been slow going due to many things. But as of late I've been working on this thing 4-5 days a week just to make some progress! Its been like 90-98 degrees in my garage but that didn't stop me as much as I hate roasting my buns off!

So I'll direct our focus on the stock brake rotors which I thought for sure were goners lol rusty as heck and haven't been used for over 10 years but hey my guys over at JER fixed me up. I figured I'd rock these temporarily during the construction period (until its running) so I may then focus some real attention on the brakes and how they function and what improvements if any need to be made.

So this is where I was I guess many of you who have messed with older rotors know the condition of these at first site...not me. But I gave'em to my bro's at JER and this is what the gave me in return.
Not bad right? The width was still within spec and for temp use I can live with'em. So me being me I like cool looking things...in this case less crappy looking. So I masked these off and painted them down.

And so here we are, resurfaced and freshly painted....bling!

So I thought I was done, until a buddy of mine made a simple suggestion which turned out to be more laborious than I had figured it would be upon re-instillation...whatever at least it looks cool right?

All done for now. Time to focus on my 5spd swap and my engine rebuild.
